Global Merchant Interactive is responsible for the global digital platform that enable seamless commerce for merchants by helping them manage their account, analyze performance & measurement data and grow their business by reaching more Card Members. This is a fast growing team in an area of the business which has significant strategic focus and sponsorship. We are on a mission to digitally transform our suite of B2B products for merchants (any business that accepts American Express, from small business owners to large global corporations) and we are doing this by also transforming the way we operate by enabling user-centric design, lean strategic principles and flawless agile delivery. We are currently seeking a Manager, Product Design to advance our vision globally by leading experience design and execution across our portfolio of 9 core agile teams. In this role, you will have a wide range of responsibilities that will not only allow you to grow as a design thought leader, but will also provide you an opportunity to expand your portfolio of work across mobile and rich data driven products. You will partner with our User Research & Customer Insights team, Product Management, Engineering and a wide net of stakeholders across the globe to lead all aspects of product design, from design strategy & research to execution. We pride ourselves in working directly with our customers and delivering features based on their feedback in a fast and nimble way (shipping code every 2 weeks) and we want to take our model to the next level by advancing the way we integrate design into the process.
A sample of key initiatives will be:
· Support Senior Product Designer on style guides and a component library that is aligned with Enterprise standards
· Global optimization of our payments and disputes platform
· Global optimization of our B2C marketing platform and eCommerce platform
· New product development exploration

Job Responsibilities :
Design Facilitation & Leadership:
· Promote agile techniques into the design process
· Create & manage the design and experience guidelines; share UX guidelines across the portfolio level
· Help define the vision and intent of new initiatives
Design Research & Strategy:
· Work with stakeholders & product owners to understand specific business goals and translate into user interactions
· Work in partnership with our team research lead on user experience testing
· Partner with measurement team to define UX metrics; apply metrics to optimization strategies that inform the design

Experience & Visual Design:
· Produce deliverables such as personas, scenarios, concept sketches, storyboards, detailed visual mockups, design specifications, style guides and interactive prototypes
· Translate product, brand, technology requirements into simple, elegant, useful experiences by either providing agile teams with next increment of design or partnering with agencies (while ensuring clean hand-off)
· Provide direction and offer input & feedback to product owners during all phases of the design process from project conception to implementation
· Attend sprint planning, backlog refinement and PI/System Demos whenever critical UI work is involved Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.

Desired profile

· 2-5+ years experience designing consumer or B2B interactive products
· Must have a digital portfolio demonstrating interactive products that have gone to market and incorporate strategic design thinking; emphasis on data visualization, mobile and/or complex web interfaces & software preferred
· Expertise in lean UX principles and agile methodologies
· Knowledge of front end technologies (HTML, CSS, JS); coding skills a plus
· Ability to document interactivity and functional requirements through wireframes, flowcharts, prototypes
· Ability to analyze metrics and understand of how data drives design
· Ability to define user testing needs, as well as analyze findings
· In-depth knowledge of design disciplines and principles
· Ability to show find simple solutions to complex design problems
· Must be able to illustrate strong understanding of information and interaction design, visual design, usability heuristics
· Strategically adaptive, thriving in a somewhat ambiguous environment and white space • Strong understanding of current trends in mobile/web technologies
· Extremely organized, autonomous and adept at switching rapidly between projects, depending on priorities; Proven ability to handle multiple design initiatives at different stages of delivery
· Client and customer service driven mindset
· Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence
