Job description

The Global Merchant Services (GMS), Global Strategy & Capabilities (GS&C) team mission is to deliver a best-in-class premium merchant member experience that will get merchants to not only accept American Express, but also openly welcome and recommend us to their customers.

Our team consults on strategic business initiatives that enhance the success and support the performance of GMS Sales and Client Management organizations. This includes building and delivering programs to support leadership development, skill expansion, and the launch of new products, services, and tools.

This position will be responsible for designing and developing training curricula using a blended-learning approach of eLearning courses, in-person training, and Live Virtual Training (LVT). The ideal candidate should have instructional design experience creating scripts/storyboards, job aids, workbooks, and assessments. It is essential to express fluency and creativity while working with images or graphics, capturing screenshots, creating basic animations, and synchronizing narration and audio files.

The Instructional Designer should have experience working with Learning Management Systems and managing vendors. The ideal candidate will have a nuanced understanding of the adult learning environment and actively bring new innovations and ideas to the team.

Responsibilities

· Knowledge of and ability to apply adult learning theory
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects from inception to completion
· Strong attention to detail, especially in communication skills
· Advanced proficiency using instructional design tools – Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or TechSmith Camtasia
· Proficiency in Image/Graphics/Video Tools such as (but not limited to) Photoshop, Illustrator, Macromedia Flash, and Premier Pro
· Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel and Outlook
· Ability to develop eLearning programs that are SCORM/AICC compliant
· Ability to publish, manage and report within Learning Management Systems. Cornerstone experience a plus
· Vendor management experience
· Membership and/or certification in professional organizations are highly desired (e.g., ASTD, SHRM, NBCC, etc.)
· Minimum 2-3 day per week in the NYC Headquarters

Desired profile

Qualifications

·  2+ years of related instructional design experience, preferably for a sales or client-facing organization. Payments industry, financial services or banking industry experience a plus
·  Instructional design experience across all media, including video, podcast, mobile, eLearning design, gaming solutions, social media collaboration
·  Experience designing and developing comprehensive courses and evaluation plans that incorporate adult education principles to deliver practical learning solutions with real world relevance
·  Experience working with global teams/organizations in a matrixed environment

Education

·  Bachelor's degree required
·  Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Education, Organization Development, Human Resource Development, Adult Learning, or other related areas preferred
