DESCRIPTION

Amazon’s Transportation Execution team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Planning Analyst to assist in the forecasting and planning of middle mile and last mile transportation.. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in a huge growth area for Amazon. An ideal candidate has a background in transportation and excellent data dive deep skills. They have the ability to, pull and analyze data with ease, drive process improvements, standardize our processes and eliminate the root cause of defects within the current systems. This job will require exceptional communication and interpersonal skills while having the ability to work independently in a high pressure environment and exercise sound judgment. The successful candidate will be proficient at identifying/solving or escalating logistics challenges and possess a bias to get things done and deliver results while functioning as part of a team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Proactively monitor volume forecasts and translate them into flexible labor and route planning to maximize capacity with minimal costs.
· Execute simulated routes and interpret results to determine ideal, flexible route planning for a rapidly growing network.
· Continual, tactical communication with external customers (Delivery Partners, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Delivery Stations, Sort Centers, Fulfillment Centers).
· Pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, TMS, SQL and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
· Develop performance metrics to assist with driving business results.
· Identify and eliminate root causes of route inefficiencies, capacity constraints, and route cancelations.
· Systematically escalate problems or variance in the operating plan to the relevant owners and teams and follow through on the resolutions to ensure they are delivered.
· Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed and ensuring service requirements are met.
· Excellent communication, both verbal and written as you will be required to convey updates on issues, operational status and business drivers during shift changes as needed throughout the activity cycle and during daily/weekly reviews.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Advanced Degree, Technical or Business
· Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Transportation background
· Experience working with IT professionals and process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
· Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements
· Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
· Proficient with SQL (or other query language(s)
· Understanding of systems and configuration management

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Transportation/Supply Chain/Operations applicable discipline or 2 years Amazon experience
· Strong analytical abilities and experience creating and managing advanced models using SQL and Microsoft Excel
