DESCRIPTION

Amazon seeks a Tax Business Analyst to be a member of our AWS Taxes team. The AWS Taxes comprises of tax professionals and software engineers that are responsible for providing end-to-end global transaction tax calculation and invoicing solutions to Amazon Web Services customers.

Primary job duties include:

- Configuration and ongoing maintenance of AWS's transaction tax calculation rules engine;
- Data analysis and reporting on the huge data set of tax audit records using DW and BI tools

- Researching transaction tax laws to create and maintain the tax rules (e.g. product taxability) within the transaction tax calculation engine;
- Actively participating in projects throughout their life-cycle – from design through delivery – with an emphasis on testing to ensure that projects conform to the business requirements and rules;
- Communicating with sellers, customers, and Customer Service regarding the calculation of transaction taxes;
- Providing subject matter expertise to various business and IT organizations including Business Development, Marketing, Legal, Customer Service, and various product groups.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation and compliance software (e.g., Vertex, Sabrix, Taxware, etc.);
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Very comfortable working in a fast-paced and continually changing environment;
- The ability to conceptualize and manage multiple projects.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of VAT/GST in the EMEA/APAC regions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Undergrad degree in Finance or Accounting or Mathematics or Science;
- Experience in doing analytics on Big data sets.
- Strong analytical skills;
- Strong bias for action and ability to prioritize;
