Amazon Web Services Route 53 is a highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS) service. We operate in over 50 locations worldwide and provide advanced functionality such as latency-based routing (LBR), Private DNS, Geo DNS routing, DNS failover, and integration with Amazon CloudFront, Amazon S3, and Amazon Elastic Load Balancing.

Amazon Route 53 Health Checks is a highly available health checking service that integrates with Route 53 and other AWS services to help customers maintain high product availability. The AWS Route 53 Health Check team is seeking an enthusiastic and talented System Engineer to build and operate our global-scale health checking platform, configuration management systems, and system APIs. This is a key role to deliver operational excellence for our service as well as enabling us to expand and grow in new regions. We are looking for a talented system engineer who knows DevOps philosophies and respects existing architecture, but is willing to decompose and reinvent existing systems, processes, and tools. We're looking for a technical expert for one of the largest computing services on the planet. Our Systems Engineers spend time:
· Investigating new ways to improve operations and defining new solutions to solve technically complex issues for our customers
· Maintaining the world's most advanced cloud computing infrastructure
· Delivering expansion of service in new regions.
· Investigating system variances about to affect major services worldwide
· Diving deep into service interdependencies and region-specific configurations to find the root of a problem about to affect an entire nation
· Studying and learning from industry-recognized Amazon distinguished engineers

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; or at least 5 years equivalent work experience
· 3+ years of non-internship professional system engineering experience
· 2+ years of experience with common scripting or programming languages such as Python, BASH, or Ruby
· 2+ years of experience in configuration management, build processes, testing, and operations
· 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
