  • Internship
  • Palo Alto, USA

Job description

DESCRIPTION

We envision a workforce where all individuals, programs, organizations, and design systems embed principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe that when people feel respected and included, they can be more creative, innovative, and successful, resulting in better outcomes for our customers.

That’s why we’re introducing a Design and Research Apprentice program at Amazon. We want to afford individuals from non-traditional paths the opportunity to hone their raw design talent and thinking. We want to be part of the inclusion solution. And we need someone to lead the way.

This Principal UX Program Manager will guide incoming Design and Research Apprentices through a pilot program focused on providing opportunities to learn and develop functional and leadership skills via a combination of curriculum-based and on-the-job training. This Amazon-wide program will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of passionate volunteers, outside training partners, and UX/Research managers to explore and innovate ways in which we can help our Apprentices thrive at Amazon.

Role Actions and Responsibilities:
· Tracking the development of all tasks and stakeholders.
· Securing manager commitments for support.
· Closing on headcount allocations within the business.
· Coordinating the process of cohort selection and allocation to managers.
· Recruiting partnership to create and finalize the first cohort list, and provide support for Apprentice onboarding.
· Scaling the curriculum development.
· Working with and finalizing the outbound communication strategy with the Amazon Design Community.
· Managing weekly stand-ups with the team to review program status, follow up on action items, and align on upcoming tasks.
· Developing processes and mechanisms to streamline operations throughout the Apprentice program.
· Scheduling and maintaining all instruction.
· Ongoing feedback collection to iterate on the program in real-time.
· Creation of a formal feedback process for Apprentice evaluation and performance management standards.
· Identifying opportunities to elevate and bring visibility to the Apprentices and their work within their orgs.
· Coordinating and aligning with the non-Design Apprentice program.

May include limited domestic travel.
