DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

The Role:
You will be a power electronics subject matter expert in a power system engineering team responsible for new product development. You will be an integral member of a team responsible for:
· Power system architecture, trades and optimization
· Driving innovative solutions and defining electrical requirements for power-system-related components, including battery, solar array, power conversion/efficiency, power distribution / harnessing, electromagnetic compliance (EMC) and grounding
· Create and manage power budgets, models and simulations. Define power consumption models for all subsystems.
· Determine power system algorithms including solar-array maximum-power-point-tracking
· Real-time power system testing
· Create electrical simulators of batteries, loads & solar power.
· Oversight of all power system elements & performance during integrated spacecraft system test through environments such as vibe, thermal & vacuum.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
· Deep understanding of different power electronics circuit topologies
· 7+ years of electrical engineering experience specifically in power electronics
· Experience with bring up and test of systems (for servers, cars, robotics, or other higher power solution)
· Experience with calculating power needs and battery life over charge cycles and lifetime
· Experience designing, testing, and debugging power electronics such as DC/DC power conversion, switching power supplies, driver circuits, and battery systems
