As AWS enjoys its ongoing rapid expansion, we are making investments in the Infrastructure Supply Chain and Procurement (ISCAP) team to optimize the value chain of technology ecosystem suppliers from whom we acquire good and services to run our cloud solutions. The AWS ISCAP team is responsible for the end-to-end sourcing and supply fulfilment to deploy customer capacity to AWS's Data Center network. We are seeking a senior Printed Circuit Board (PCB) component sourcing engineer responsible for; predicting PCB market dynamics, driving PCB supplier technology roadmaps aligned to AWS product innovation, and executing PCB sourcing strategies that ensure supplier manufacturing capacity and supply output satisfies AWS growing materials demand requirements. PCB is used across a range of AWS market verticals including, but not limited to - Server motherboard, Network communications switches, host bus adapters, Network interface cards, solid state drives, IoT devices, and Power supply subsystems.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned PCB sourcing engineering professional with a demonstrated record of high performing technology sourcing experts, cultivating influential C-level vendor relationships, harnessing PCB industry analytics to develop winning sourcing strategies, accelerating throughput velocity by reducing lead-times, and driving vendor output execution to prevent/resolve constraints. As the PCB sourcing engineer you will engage frequently with Architects, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Product Life Cycle Managers and Internal business unit service customers to understand AWS's PCB quality, availability and cost requirements, influence DFX - design for manufacturing/supply chain - direction, and subsequently orchestrate vendor engagement and sourcing strategies to exceed those needs. Being a senior PCB sourcing engineer being nimble, fast and decisive in pursuit of business priorities will be imperative as we balance the obligations of guaranteed continuity of supply delivered at best cost. AWS's progress will bring the challenge to reinvent and adopt unconventional models to scale operational effectiveness and efficiencies for our desired future state. This role will report directly into ISCAP's head of Component Sourcing Manager and is located out of Taipei. There will be travel required in this role including both domestic and international trips. Success in the role will be measured by how the PCB sourcing engineer is able to deliver against stated business objectives while instilling a results-oriented, lean, ownership culture of big thinking, fast acting, and continuous improvement behavior.
Responsibilities Include:
· Recognized subject matter expert in Printed Circuit Board technologies, design practices, specialty materials, fabrication methods, should cost dynamics and quality assurance systems.
· Establish network relationship in the Printed Circuit Board industry.
· Identify and understand PCB Industry and technology trends.
· Drive PCB supplier product technology roadmaps and execute strategic quality/availability/cost improvement initiatives.
· Analyze PCB industry capacity to predict market constraints and drive sourcing policy counter measures to secure continuity of supply and cost optimization.
· Influence PCB vendors' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in beneficial and sustainable ways.
· Develop and execute PCB vendor strategies in support of business requirements for AWS Server and Networking hardware.
· Source, Select, Risk Assess/Mitigate, Qualify and On-Board new PCB suppliers.
· Implement vendor performance controls to ensure operational excellence.
· Target and deliver aggressive supply capacity assurance and lead-time reduction initiatives.
· Influence PCB Designs for manufacturing, quality and cost optimization.
· Build a vendor base and business processes which scale with the business.
· Drive change through excellent verbal and written communication with data driven inputs.
· Communicated management and business partner presentation via white paper narratives.
· Create mechanisms to ensure details of the business are understood, managed, and improved upon.
Desired profile
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Industrial Engineering or Business Administration/Supply Chain Operations
· 3+ years of technology market intelligence and business development,
· 5+ years direct working experience in PCB and/or IC Package substrate industry.
· 7+ years of work experience in Component Engineering, Manufacturing, &/or Technical Procurement.
· 7+ years or relevant work of strategic sourcing in high tech electronics / computing / communications fields.
