DESCRIPTION

Amazon Japan seeks for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join the CPEX (Customer Packaging Experience) team based in Tokyo, Japan. This role is highly technical and analytical, and we are looking for a person who can enrich customer's experiences at a large scale through Amazon's packaging optimization projects. This role requires an individual with excellent data engineering, analytical abilities, statistical and deep knowledge of business intelligence solutions, and have the ability to work with technology, mechanism/process development, and business teams. The successful candidate will have passion for data analytics, being a self-starter comfortably with ambiguity, strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, and a desire to innovate Amazon's approaches.

Specific responsibilities include:
· Seek how to lever machine learning technologies at a large scale and conceptualize benefits which may be derived in the area of package improvement. The package improvement includes but not limited to package lineup and package assignment optimization. Achieve a breakthrough in the package optimization, improve the exiting processes at a large scale and document business plan for getting approval and making execution plan.
· Localize cutting edge technologies which is not yet available in Japan by deeply understanding Amazon's operating systems and engaging closely with ML scientists, BIE, PM based in US and India.
· Develop mechanism to enrich customer's experiences, optimize operating processes and reduce cost at a large scale by capitalizing on big data and machine learning techniques.
· Drive business decisions by owing the data extraction from data warehouse, designing, developing and maintaining metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
· Build and analyze key metrics to uncover trends and root causes of issues and/or find opportunities for the contentious improvements.
· Provide technical assistance for ad-hock data extraction / data analytic request from other engineers or management team.
· Comprehensively be responsive to the needs of BI tools and data analytics.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 5+ years of relevant work experience in development of predicting model based off machine learning, business intelligence, data analytics, data engineering, or related field
· 5+ years of relevant work experience in business strategy planning in the area of data analytics which utilize machine learning technologies
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, related technical field, Applied Data Scientist or equivalent work experience
· Experience gathering business requirements, using industry standard business intelligence tools to extract data, formulate metrics and build reports
· Experience using SQL, ETL and databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex data-sets
· Experience with AWS technologies including Redshift, RDS, S3, EMR, EML, or equivalent work experience.
· Experience with data visualization using Tableau or similar tools
· Fluent in Japanese and technical communication in English
