Today, millions of third party sellers offer products alongside Amazon Retail through the Amazon Marketplace. The Featured Merchant Algorithm team owns the system and algorithms that enables the above mentioned competition and selects the offers that are featured on the ‘Add to Cart’ button (aka the ‘Buy Box’) on Amazon’s most valuable retail real estate – the Product Detail Page referenced above. The team’s mission is to ensure that featured offers provide the best possible customer value based on factors including price, availability, delivery options and customer service.
The team leverages sophisticated machine learning, econometric, and big data technologies to help customers to discover the right products at the right prices from millions of trusted sellers billions of times a day. We’re looking for a software leader to drive the architecture and design the next generation of Tier-I FMA systems. These are high throughput systems handling more than 4 billion transactions per hour with latency requirement in single digit milliseconds. As we continue to enhance our ML and econometric algorithms, online processing becomes more complex which in turn requires designing and implementing new systems to handle the low latency high throughput requirements. This leader will drive different teams within and outside of FMA to think outside the box and design innovative software solutions for this technically complex business driving functionality.
In this position you will provide both strategic and tactical oversight and be responsible for leading and mentoring best-in-class development teams that deliver the features, functionalities, and tools we need to deliver on our global product roadmap.
Your team will drive changes and experiment to make data driven decisions and present this data to Amazon senior executives on a frequent basis. This is a high visibility role that requires working with business, finance, category and legal teams worldwide and provides opportunities to interact with senior management worldwide.

A successful candidate will be a person who enjoys understanding and evaluating customer facing website changes, maybe interested in machine learning, makes data driven decisions and understands the short term and long term customer and financial impact of these changes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
· Experience working in a complex, service oriented software development.
· Experience working with Big Data and Machine Learning technologies

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science or closely related field
· Proficiency with object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
· Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
· Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
· Computer Science fundamentals and technical architecture and design skills
· 4+ years of experience managing engineers and/or engineering managers
· 4+ years of experience driving new feature prioritization, development, and delivery
· 6+ years of experience engineering distributed systems
· 3+ years of experience writing and defending business plans/justifications
· Must be a self-starter and motivated
