Would you like to work on the team that determines prices for one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world? The Retail Pricing team generates prices for all Amazon owned physical inventory worldwide, and across programs like Prime Now, Fresh, Amazon Business and others. We are looking for passionate and customer obsessed Product Manager, with a blend of business and technical skills who will work with software engineers, research scientists, economists, project managers, product managers across different countries, programs and cross-functional teams to help build out the next generation pricing strategies for Amazon worldwide.

As a member of Amazon's Pricing team, you'll play a key role in the evolution of pricing strategy and the algorithms to solve the world's most complex technical challenges in pricing optimization, large-scale computing, distributed systems, web applications, algorithms and data mining - to name a few. The Pricing systems are responsible for determining and publishing prices automatically, with little to no manual intervention, for the millions of items that Amazon sells worldwide ranging from a book on Amazon UK, to an electronics item on Amazon US, a shoe on Amazon JP, etc.

A successful candidate will have an established background in building highly scalable systems and system design, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. The leader we are looking for will bring proven experience building, managing, focusing, and mentoring engineering teams as you will be in charge of building a brand new team within pricing for a new high-impact, high-visibility project. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals. Experience with building scalable, customer impacting applications and/or web services-based applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful. The candidate will have a demonstrated record of team building and execution in a high volume environment and be able to lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains. This requires a person that is very metrics driven, yet has the vision to scale the business.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· A deep understanding of software development in a team, software development methodologies and scheduling, a track record of shipping software on time, services development, and people management to this high-accountability role.

· Strong technical credentials, with at least 3 years leading or managing software development teams, ideally with hands-on architectural or distributed systems experience
·
· Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate proven technical leadership.
·
· Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities.
·
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent strongly preferred
·
· Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive. High on bias for action.
·
· Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment.
·
· Development experience in OOP, Java, UNIX, Perl, C++, XML, Web services, and UNIX tools.
