Software Development Engineer – Mobile Video (Android/iOS)

DESCRIPTION

We are inventing new and engaging mobile advertising experiences centered around high quality, responsive and highly performant videos. We are looking for skilled and creative software development engineers with Android and/or iOS experience to work as part of our video playback and performance team who focuses on improving the end-to-end performance, quality and reliability of video delivered to our customers, including video ingestion, transcoding, storage, delivery and playback.

What you will work on:
You will work with a team of talented and experienced engineers and designers to help bring new products to market and ensure that both groups of core customers (Amazon shoppers and advertisers) are delighted by what we create. You will design and build our next generation of video players that include video optimizations such as caching, pre-loading and playback logic that is optimized for near instant playback that will be used across a number of different products within the Amazon mobile applications. You will also implement and analyze detailed quality of experience metrics to help us ensure that we continue to provide and improve upon the outstanding experience we deliver to Amazon shoppers.

The solutions you create need to ensure that the infrastructure facilitates and encourages this experimentation while being able to scale to the level needed at Amazon. You will have the freedom, support, and encouragement to think big and invent on behalf of our customers.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for a creative, customer and details obsessed Software Development Engineer with a solid background building applications using React Native on either iOS and/or Android. In addition to being technically deep you need to have exceptional product ownership and the ability to own a project from inception through to deployment and operations. You will need the ability to have a long term technical vision, while also integrating feedback from customers and taking into consideration the long-term impact of any decisions. We need someone who loves learning and wants to work with an experienced team in a quick moving, iterative and highly collaborative environment.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 3+ years of non-internship professional software
development experience.

· Programming experience with at least one modern
language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
·
· 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture
and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling)
of new and current systems.
