We're looking for experienced, motivated systems engineers with a proven track record of supporting enterprise level web applications and services. You will be responsible for the uptime, availability and reliability of Amazon's primary display ads platform, these are multi-tiered services and distributed systems that are used by internal and external enterprise customers to build, manage and server beautiful, and innovative ads. Our team works across Amazon to combine Desktop, Mobile, Kindle, Video, Retail and Social Media into our products. We're building a full-service, full-stack platform for end-users and other developers.

In addition, you will be responsible for driving production releases, working on tools and services to help with platform and site diagnostics and health and collaborating with engineering teams to help drive improvements and document/socialize best practices. Responsibilities Include:
· Site reliability, systems, and application operations of the Amazon Ad Platform.
· Collaborate with engineering and remote support engineers to drive down operational burden through improved documentation and SOPs/runbooks.
· Determine present and future system capability needs and ensure systems are capable of handling anticipated current and future volume.
· Work with the development and operations team to enhance and maintain a 24x7 systems operations capability.
· Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery and create preventative measures.
· Work with the team to manage the processing of incoming support requests ensuring effective and timely resolution of issues. Coordinate with other departments to ensure problems are satisfactorily resolved.
· Track and report progress against established milestones, metrics, and deliverables. Anticipate and address preventable issues that could impede progress. Adjust plans and schedules as necessary to meet changing business requirements.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics; or relevant work experience
· Proficiency with UNIX Shell scripting (bash and zsh are preferred). Python, Ruby, and Java are considered a plus.
· Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and providing solutions for technical issues
· Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Comfortable in an ambiguous, ever changing environment.

· Experience successfully mentoring other engineers
