We are seeking strong software development engineers with distributed services and web service experience to build the services that power all of Amazon Video devices and web globally. As an Amazon software engineer you will design, develop, test, and run operations for core platform services. You will take a defined design and turn it into code and deliver it on schedule, applying appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices. You'll write secure, stable, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects. You'll participate in team design, scoping and prioritization discussions. You'll work effectively with customers and/or internal partners to understand business impacts and identify any opportunities/problems arising from technical decisions. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing services for consumer-facing products, a strong technical ability, excellent organizational skills, great communication skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, and, of course, a passion for TV and film.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design.
· Highly proficient in at least one of Java, C++, C#, Objective-C.
· Experience with one or more of JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, Python.
· Evidence of working with algorithms, data-structures, efficiency, concurrency, performance optimization.
· Evidence of working with object-oriented development and design patterns.
· OS fundamentals and systems architecture.
· Cloud computing, large-scale and high-availability distributed architecture.
· Experience working in an Agile environment.
· Strong analytical and excellent problem solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal English communications skills.
