DESCRIPTION

Amazon Tax Technology is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Engineer with a strong understanding of process flows and common software design patterns to build a product builder framework that can time to market new products without much development effort.
You will work on architecting, designing and implementing high performance products for our customers. Products include external facing document management system to retain documents for audits, Budget and expense management system, Obligations management system, Central Tax portal and Product builder framework.

As a Software Development Engineer on the Amazon Tax Technology team, you will:
. Design, develop and support a world-class document management system that will allow generation of requirements documents, manage final versions of documents, external facing ERoom to share documents outside Amazon, search platform serving individuals and businesses.
Design, develop and support a Product builder framework that will provide capabilities to spin off a new product for various usecases without much developer time.
· Produce bullet-proof code that is robust, efficient and maintainable;
. Work at the core of Elasticsearch and Apache Lucene open source software with opportunities to contribute to open source
. Work on challenging problems in areas such as data storage, query optimization, JVM performance optimization, security, machine learning and more.
· Continually challenge what exists and explore what should be changed to best meet evolving customer needs
· Possess expert knowledge in large scale distributed system design and engineering best practices
· Participate in setting a vision and objectives for Recommendation rules engine, Document management, Search Services in alignment with customer needs and market opportunities
· Drive and work on algorithm and architecture design, execute and deliver results
· Invent the future of search and log analytics in the cloud

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience in building high-performance, highly-available and scalable distributed systems.
· 2+ years of hands-on experience as a SDE3 Software Development Engineer.
· 2+ years of experience mentoring junior engineers to success.
· Ability and willingness to multi-task and learn new technologies quickly

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
· 4+ years of professional software development experience
Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
· 5+ years of software engineering experience, including Java and/or C++.
· 5+ years of experience leading large-scale, cross platform, distributed processing projects.
· 5+ years of knowledge of emerging platforms, Java, C/C++, web, operating system principles, and programming best practices.
