Senior Software Development Engineer - VPC Traffic Mirroring
Internship Seattle (King) Design/UX/UI
Job description
DESCRIPTION
Amazon VPC is re-imagining what it means to have visibility into the virtual network, and we need your help. We are in search of a strong engineer who can help with the mission of bringing transparency to enable security, compliance and help with troubleshooting thorny issues on the network.
Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) lets you provision a logically isolated section of the AWS Cloud where you can launch AWS resources in a virtual network that you define. We launched VPC Traffic Mirroring in 2019, and building on more features and capabilities working very closely with our partners and customers. You can think of VPC Traffic Mirroring as a “virtual fiber tap” that gives you direct access to the network packets flowing through your VPC. You can choose to capture all traffic or you can use filters to capture the packets that are of particular interest to you, with an option to limit the number of bytes captured per packet. You can use VPC Traffic Mirroring in a multi-account AWS environment, capturing traffic from VPCs spread across many AWS accounts and then routing it to a central VPC for inspection.
We are growing fast, and are looking for kernel/embedded programmers who can deliver ultra-high performance - our goal is to be processing millions of packets per second on Data Plane all in Rust or C. If you have good experience in Rust or C/C++, and a passion for systems software engineering such as kernel or embedded development, then this is a unique opportunity to join us at day one of building the platform.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Be very hands-on; work with the engineering team to manage the day-to-day development activities by leading architecture decisions, participating in designs, design review, code review, and implementation.
· Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies and work with management and development team in bringing new technologies.
· Communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms and data structures
· Linux operating system and file systems knowledge
· Experience working with embedded systems, packet processing,
