PROGRAMMER ANALYST II, TAX TECHNOLOGY Amazon is a fast paced, dynamic, high-tech company based in Seattle. Amazon's tax team seeks a capable and motivated individual to be a member of the Direct Tax Technology team based in Seattle.

Amazon is seeking a tax technologist to be part of our Tax Modeling and Calculations Team. This role requires experience with process design, detailed execution and working with tax professionals and other technologist in all aspects of the Amazon Tax Department's direct tax technology program.

We provide self-service tools to increase customer's productivity, infrastructure scalability, team collaboration and process efficiency.
Programmer/Analyst Developer responsibilities include
· Develop tax-centric web and desktop applications hosted on Windows and AWS infrastructure.
· Engage with tax users to conduct requirements analysis, project prioritization and solution design.
· Design and automate applications and handle day-to-day support requests.
· Support the underlying hardware infrastructure, including databases, virtualization, and operating systems.
· Develop tax technology requirements based upon feedback; translating those requirements into technology strategies/solutions; and write and review supporting specification documents.
· Ensure backups, maintenance, and performance monitoring are set up and monitored.

Desired profile

Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3+ years of progressive software development in VBA, .NET, Python and SQL
- Experience working on projects through the entire software development lifecycle
- Must be able to solve a complex problem on his/her own by utilizing experience and other resources
- Design/code applications requiring a high degree of complexity
- Design data structures that meet the application requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong business and technical vision
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, and recommend alternative technical and business approaches

Preferred qualifications
- Experience with design and implementation of multitenant (SaaS) solutions using Microsoft software application framework technologies such as ASP.NET, Java or C#, Web services, Angular JS and SQL
- Experience with design and implementation of secure integrations with AWS services and products
