The Core AI team at Amazon works with senior management on key business problems faced in retail, international retail, supply chain, traffic, search, pricing, cloud computing, third party merchants, Kindle and operations. Amazon economists apply the frontier of economic thinking to market design, pricing, forecasting, online advertising, supply chain network planning and other areas.
As a technical product manager you will collaborate with economists, machine learning scientists, scholars, developers, and experts across the company to invest, design, plan, and build services that implement a wide range of econometric and machine learning models. This requires thinking big, diving deep, and making it happen. A successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for innovation, interest in cutting-edge technology, and excitement about working with smart people on high-impact projects, that go across many knowledge domains.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
· Experience designing several complex ML software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers and had high impact
· Knowledge of one or more of the following areas: econometrics, statistical modeling, machine learning, data mining
· Broad ability to take a project from scoping requirements through launch and operations of the project

· Ability and eagerness to learn from anyone you work with, and the ability to connect disparate knowledge into product and science ideas.
· Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions from data; remove ambiguity and focus people on essentials.
· Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills that cater to very different audiences.
· BS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent experience
· Experience building complex v1 software systems and services that have been successfully delivered to customers and had high impact at high scale
· 8+ years of relevant work experience in technical product management
· Experience in developing and evolving products; A record of successful product delivery
· Experience working closely with software developers, economists, Machine Learning Scientists, and remote scholars
· Ability to think big and in a practical way, turn imagination and ideas into working prototypes that can quickly show potential or fail quickly, learn from your mistakes, and then get it done t
· Inspire people at all levels, be able to scope and plan projects from MVP to full product, build complex systems that provide simple and powerful user experience, and use passion and intelligence to get people to buy into the project
· Demonstrated ability to weigh and communicate product trade-offs in a rational and open manner
· Demonstrated ability to engage and influence people and teams at every level in the organization
