Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Amazon seeks a Senior Space Environment Engineer to lead a small team focused on radiation, parts selection and reliability under all aspects of the space environment: thermal, static, solar, magnetic, particulate, as well as radiation.
· Candidate will define and lead our testing, qualification of components for space radiation and create a catalog of parts that teams can use
· Candidate will participate in the design and specification of space avionics and qualifying the supporting parts library for the Kuiper satellite constellation including all kinds of micro-controllers, communications, and power management hardware
· Work with an interdisciplinary team and offer guidance to electrical design engineers to aid in selection and proper utilization of radiation sensitive components

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Computer Engineering
· Experience with NASA, Defense or Commercial Space programs
· Experience developing and executing a parts reliability program for space application

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Master's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent degree, or equivalent experience
· 7+ years of experience in spaceflight avionics development, parts selection and test
· System design and component qualification experience with radiation environments or radiation tolerant hardware
· Experience as a technical lead or direct manager of radiation effects team
· Understanding impact of SEE and TID effects on electronic systems
· Experience defining and building a radiation effects program for space based applications
