The Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) Product Team within Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Principal Solution Architect to help create best practices technical documentation that will help customers as they rapidly grow their applications in AWS. Customers of all sizes face unique challenges in managing and storing data at petabyte and exabyte scale, and accomplishing complex missions with limited resources. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, bringing the latest in disruptive, cutting-edge cloud storage technologies to customers around the globe.
As a Principal Solution Architect within Amazon Web Services, you will have the opportunity to shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad usage of Amazon S3 and Amazon S3 Glacier. Your responsibilities will include: owning technical customer engagement, removing technical blockers, defining implementation and transition architectures, creating RFI and RFP documentation, and achieving ultimate success around documenting technical best practices for end users. To achieve those goals—and building on your broad background and technical breadth and depth in storage, security, networking, and application architecture –you will develop expertise in all AWS technologies, and deep understanding of how customer applications and services are best built and operated on the AWS cloud computing platform.

Have a strong understanding of trends, security, standards, and compliance for designing large scale cloud storage solutions. The ideal candidate will have a variety of experiences working as an architect or technical marketing engineer or systems, software or network engineer. You will enjoy maintaining your existing technical skills and developing new ones, to the point that you can not only contribute to, but lead deep architecture discussions around storage systems and applications in the cloud. You will regularly take part in deep-dive design exercises in order to create world class best practices for customers and AWS partners. You will be happy to roll up your sleeves, learn the deep details of systems, and generally do what it takes to achieve technical success for customers on the AWS platform.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications:
The candidate will possess both technical and customer-facing skills that will allow them to be a technical “face” of Amazon S3 within customers. They will be able to drive discussions with senior technical decision makers well and possess the technical background that enables them to easily interact and guide software developers, IT pros, and system architects in commercial entities.
The ideal candidate will also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges. An output of this role is customer-facing technical documentation, so outstanding written communications skills is essential.
The right person will be highly technical and analytical, possess significant experience of software development and/or IT and storage and networking implementation including security and compliance.
· Advisory/consulting experience, including some experience with global accounts and large commercial customers.
· Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams.
· Business fluent English
· Experience working within the software development or Internet industries is highly desired.
· Understanding of Storage technologies is required.
· Understanding of application, server, and network security is highly desired.
· Executive speaking and presentation skills – Formal presentations, white boarding, large and small group presentations is highly desired
