DESCRIPTION

With billions of products in thousands of categories, alongside offerings like Music Unlimited and Prime Video, Amazon has real big data. We need experienced and visionary ontologists to help design and develop our Product Graph knowledge base. Using automation and machine learning you can help realize the future of the Amazon retail, music and movie experiences.

As a member of the Product Graph team, based in Seattle, you will play a key role in the establishment of a new platform, with opportunities to create enormous benefits for Amazon customers. You will design and implement data ontologies to fit various use cases, help guide software design for schema inputs and tools, and provide expertise around knowledge structures.

Responsibilities include:

Designing the ontology for a product/music/movies knowledge graphs.
Specifying mappings between different ontologies.
Designing tools for ontology exploration.
Assisting with data QA and preparation.
Curating, organizing and classifying data with appropriate ontologies.
Connecting to other knowledge representation groups within Amazon for data integration and sharing best practices.
Representing Amazon in ontology communities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Excellent written and verbal communication.
· Ability to work as part of a start-up team within a larger company.
· Experience with knowledge bases
· Experience with OWL and SPARQL
· Experience with Protégé

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Seven years of experience with managing, organizing and classifying data
· Graduate degree in library science, linguistics, philosophy, information management, or other related discipline
