We’ve been hard at work developing a new, fully-electric delivery system – Amazon Scout – designed to get packages to customers using autonomous delivery devices. These devices were created by Amazon, are the size of a small cooler, and roll along sidewalks at a walking pace. We developed Amazon Scout at our research and development lab in Seattle, ensuring the devices can safely and efficiently navigate around pets, pedestrians and anything else in their path.

As a Scout Maintenance Area Manager, you will lead a team of Maintenance Technicians troubleshooting existing hardware and build a repair and maintenance program to support the Scout fleet. You will be responsible for supporting a variety of requests from a large team of engineers, field operators, and Scout leadership, but primarily ensuring the safe and productive work environment for the team of Maintenance Technicians.

Responsibilities
· Lead a team to develop repair and preventative maintenance programs for the Amazon Scout robotic delivery system
· Develop and design innovative solutions to difficult problems, manage outside contractors and be on call for emergencies
· Coach and develop team of technicians including identifying professional development opportunities
· Help create and maintain repair documentation for service technicians through collaboration with the Scout engineering teams
· Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting PCB’s, LED lighting modules, motors, encoders, relays and sensors
· Develop and maintain good working relationships across all levels of the organization
· Work with local site Safety department leadership to understand, implement, and audit safety programs
· Work with Finance team to develop, set and track forecasted maintenance expenses
· Own and promote excellent housekeeping
· Ability to work at remote locations

Physical Demands
· Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each
· Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching below the waist and above the head
· Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during site visits
· Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists
· Ability to work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, not air conditioned/outdoors
· Ability to work evenings or weekends

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience delivering large scale maintenance programs for robotics or similar devices
· 4 years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
· Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers and management
· Ability to work independently
· Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) from an accredited university or 2+ years of experience in an Amazon engineering team.
· Experience in at least one of the following areas:
o Electrical and electronic principles
o Electrical schematic reading
o Preventative maintenance procedures
o Understanding mechanical drawings
o Manufacturing process instructions
o Basic hand tools and their use
