Amazon Game Studios in San Diego is searching for a Live operations manager. In this role, you will own release management for a game, Plan development vs patch cycles, Checklist and required steps for release approval, calendar planning against the rest of the org, and hardware planning. Responsibilities
Release management for games
-Plan dev versus patch cycle, manage time to release and process for various release forms (full release, incremental patch, hot fix, emergency patch)
-Check list and required steps for release approval
-Calendar planning versus rest of org
-Use and improvement of the internally developed build toolset
· Plans and provides build environments for any needed Dev scenarios
· Establish best practices for regular and dependable build deliveries (check-in lead time rules, expected variance in build and deploy times)
· Maps build sets against business needs (e.g. setting up dedicated build lines for events)
Hardware planning and cost control
-Local hardware to benefit development process (local servers, testing lab conditions, playtest hardware)
-Capacity and cost planning against live operations, tied into to development planning and goal changes on CPU/Memory efficiency
Administers Live operation
-Manages on call rotation and has responsibility for 24/7 coverage
-Performs regular operational review and drives development changes to improve live profile on uptime, SLAs
-Monitors KPIs related to operation of product and establishes new ones, establishes development support to deliver needed telemetry
Basic scripting and tooling required for local build management
Establishes and enforces requirements for operational compliance worldwide (e.g. compensation plan on downtime on territories with legal need, specific SLA adherence in some territories)
Ensures build and deploy dependencies are project managed from Intensity perspective (gamebuilds, patchers, launchers, and 3rd party integrations like Twitch)
Be responsible for end-to-end experiences built by cross-disciplinary teams
Work on behalf of game-wide creative or technical product owners to define and deliver cross-game quality
Adopt or build the necessary tools to evaluate proposed new work and make realistic projections
If required, manage one or more Associate Producers, or other non-production staff
Desired profile
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ Years of experience supporting a live massive scale multiplayer game
3 Years of experience with Hardware planning and cost control
