Japanese Localization Specialist

DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for a Japanese localization editor to join our Digital, App, and Game Services (DAGS) team. DAGS is responsible for providing the best mobile app and game selection for Amazon’s Appstore for Android as well as Fire Tablet and Fire TV customers.

In this role, you will own the Japanese linguistic quality for Amazon Developer Portal and you will localize technical and non-technical content for Android app developers. You will be part of a culturally dynamic team working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders within the organization.

You must have demonstrated experience in the technology field, and a proven background in Japanese localization and technical editing. Strong interpersonal skills, time management, and attention to details are required.

Specific responsibilities will include:
· Performing language QA for our technical documentations and other content from English to Japanese or Japanese to English
· Writing and editing technical documents to optimize the content for Japanese users
· Drive the development of style guides and translation memories
· Lead terminology discussions with internal stakeholders and give direction to our external vendors
· Creating and maintaining Translation Vendor quality scorecards and feedback process
· Assist with other general translation work as needed

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Native speaker of Japanese
· Professional-level writing skills in Japanese
· Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
· Strong attention to details; ability to exercise high standards for quality while meeting tight deadlines
· Ability to handle HTML/XML files
· At least 2 years of professional translation experience from English to Japanese
