DESCRIPTION

Operations Pathways Leadership Program is designed to develop Amazon's next generation of site management leaders or general managers. An Operations team is responsible for: Fulfillment Centers, Customer Service Centers, Supply Chain Management and Transportation. As customer-facing functions, Operations strives very hard for superior delivery speed and service quality to provide customers with wonderful shopping experiences. Our operations are directly tied into customer satisfaction, and we have challenges to pursue further operational excellence in our rapidly-growing organization while continuously implementing new services and categories.

During the 5 year development scheme, the Pathway participants experience challenging assignments. This position will start as Area Managers (leading 50-100 hourly associates) and subsequently become Operations Managers, where they lead other Area Managers.

Additional roles are often of a specialist nature, for example focusing on change management or operational excellence, enabling the Pathways participant to influence site leadership strategy or implement process improvements across a wider part of the operations network. You may also lead a highly analytical project to evaluate existing operations with management leaders. Pathways participants have the possibility to be promoted to General Manager or an equivalent level within other Operations departments after completion of the program.

Responsibilities may include:
· Leading and managing a large team (including learning the area manager role and supervising junior associates early on in the tenure)
· Driving process improvements across the network using LEAN/ Six Sigma/ Kaizen methodologies
· Overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of site operations functions
· Extensive project and change management
· Full accountability for setting and meeting operational goals, strategic planning, analysis and forecasting
· Developing standard operating procedures for a fulfillment or customer service center
· Business analysis and partnership across Amazon with Retail and Finance leaders

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Currently enrolled in a full-time MBA or equivalent master's level program at the time of application and graduate before start date
· 3+ years of industry work experience prior to master's program
· Fluency in Japanese, and business level proficiency in English
