DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

The Role:
As a Sr. Hardware Engineer you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. You will work closely with internal inter-disciplinary teams, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
As part of a system team you will work alongside system integrators and technology focused engineers. Serve as a key technical resource in the complete development cycle, end-to-end, from conception, design, implementation and testing to documentation and manufacturing; Utilize consumer electronics design experience to help influence architecture, product reliability specifications and product requirements; Own delivery of entire piece of product, application or related components; and Serve as technical lead on complex projects using best-practice engineering standards. Up to 20% travel to suppliers in domestic and international locations will be required.
You will partner with and lead OEM/ODMs for all stages of product development of both system-level and subsystem-level electronic design including circuit design, debug, bring-up, validation, building and optimizing manufacturing processes through DFM and DFT. Will utilize software-based design tools such as schematic capture, PCB layout, Allegro constraint manager, CAM, and SPICE as well as specialized lab test equipment such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, protocol analyzer, etc. for these designs. Will leverage experience with system interconnect bus topologies such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, I2S, DDR, and related interfaces. Will also leverage experience with: Power, digital, analog and wireless electronic design; Components used in mobile devices such as SOCs, power ICs, memories, RF components, displays, sensors, and batteries; High-speed design and noise suppression techniques; and WAN (GSM, UMTS, LTE), GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth wireless systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MSEE with at least 3 years of experience or Track record of delivering high volume consumer electronics products
· Strong interpersonal skills and capability to be a key member of various cross-functional teams
· Understanding of high speed design
· Understanding of all components used in mobile devices such as SOCs, power ICs, memories and the various interfaces to other parts of the system
· Strong communication and documentation skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

BSEE with at least 8 years of experience in consumer product design
· Experience with system level design including circuit design, system integration and debug
· Experience with multiple technologies such as cameras, RF, displays, sensors
· Experience leading and driving design development from schematic capture, PCB layout and assembly
· Experience with manufacturing processes including DFM and DFT for consumer products
