The Alexa Information International team are making Alexa smarter, more useful and more relevant for global customers. We need two Data Analyst Apprentices in Cambridge UK to centralize our data analysis, tracking and reporting. This is an exciting opportunity to learn marketable skills while growing a household-name product.

As one of our new Data Analyst Apprentices, you are energized by our fast paced environment. You take pride in being super-organized and efficiently delivering accurate, well-presented results. You are passionate about manipulating data, technology and the Amazon Alexa product. You are curious about how international customers use information in their daily lives, and excited to explore the data to learn more about them in aggregate. You enjoy variety as you will have a range of responsibilities and thrive on managing multiple priorities.

You will join us as a Data Analyst on a 4 year program, where you will gain valuable, paid work experience at one of the world's leading companies, whilst obtaining a BA Hons degree in Data Analysis. The Data Analyst apprentice will be on a fixed term contract that lasts 48 months. After the apprenticeship is completed, all apprentices will be given the opportunity to apply for a permanent position at Amazon

During your scheme you will be studying towards Data Analyst apprenticeship level 4 and on successful completion you will do the Digital and Technology solutions professional degree where you will be introduced to the fundamental technical skills you need to become a successful Amazon Data Analyst employee, by attending offsite workshop modules in London which will support you to achieve the standard:
In your first year you will cover modules and learning such as;
· Introduction to Data
· Data Structure and Databases: using Python and SQL
· Data Analysis and Compliance
· Data Architecture
· Integration with Data.
In Year 2:
· Research Methods
· Big Data and Analytics
· Solution Architecture
· Data Science
In Year 3:
• Synoptic Project:
· Developing Technology
· Strategy
· Data science
In Year 4
• Dissertation – Major project

You will build your skills over a 48 month period - starting in Feb/Mar 2020 that will include; classroom based training hosted offsite, online learning module, Amazon's on-the-job training program, delivered by our specialist teams and mentoring. Alongside extensive development of your technical skills, you will also grow your abilities in crucial complementary areas like organization, prioritization, data analysis and problem solving techniques, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.

In this role you will;
· Attend regular training sessions in London.
· Own SQL queries over our business data. Maintain the set of queries over time, to account for changes to the data formats and evolving requirements.
· Perform ad-hoc data analyses as instructed, to investigate errors, successes and trends in the customer logs.
· Provide the right information to the relevant teams. This may involve creating dashboards or automated email reports.
· Maintain data models to track and forecast trends, for example to manage our costs.
· Perform audits as instructed, for example auditing whether all teams are following various best practices.
· Contribute to regular business reports, for example by compiling data for appendices and collating information from other reports.
· Clean and prepare datasets, for example to make them fit for ingesting into other systems or using as training data for statistical models.
· Maintain global trackers of items relevant to all countries. Drive them to completion, for example by chasing down action items.
· Help to measure the impact of projects, for example by writing SQL queries.
· Perform other similar tasks as required

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Must be able to commit to a 4 year program
· You must be aged over 18
· You must be eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship
· You must have lived in the UK or a European Economic Area continuously for the last 3 years or longer
· As this apprenticeship works towards a Bachelors degree, you must not currently be in full-time education or must not hold a relevant university degree
Minimum requirements:
· 3 A-Levels or equivalent (minimum grades A – C; including one in a STEM related subject or equivalent)
· GCSE Math and English (minimum grade C+)
· Strong English verbal and written communication skills. In order to be successful in this position you must be capable of communicating effectively with a wide spectrum of members within the organization
· Experience using SQL and spreadsheets.
· A curious mind, a passion for learning and a keen interest in data/coding
· Passion for information technologies
· Available to work in Cambridge daily, and travel to London as required.
