DESCRIPTION
Global Corporate Affairs is seeking to hire a Copy Editor who can edit public-facing and internal written materials. This person will ensure our documents are best-in-class by bringing a strong attention to detail and thorough knowledge of grammar and style guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have experience editing in a media organization (e.g., newspaper, magazine or online publication) or professional environment (e.g., PR agency or corporate communications team). In this role, you will work closely with communications, policy, and business teams to edit materials such as press releases, public statements, blog posts, and internal documents. You will in many cases be the final editor on these documents and will ensure they are free of errors.
The successful candidate will:
· Possess superior writing and editing skills.
· Quickly dive into Amazon’s writing culture, learning the company’s style guidelines and ensuring that they are applied correctly to all documents.
· Build relationships across the Global Corporate Affairs organization, learning the varying needs of teams.
· Provide copy editing for internal stakeholders on both short- and long-term projects.
· Coach members of GCA organization to improve their own writing and editing, allowing you to multiply your impact across the org.
· Show high judgment, particularly in narrow time frames.
**Position can be located in Seattle, WA or in Arlington, VA**

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Expertise with style guidelines and grammar.
· Experience working across countries and cultures.
· Familiarity with public policy topics.
· Project management skills, including experience juggling multiple projects at once, setting schedules, and prioritizing
Desired profile
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· 3+ years of experience as a copy editor, ideally at a media organization.
· Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or Communications.
