Amazon’s Payment Acceptance & Experience team develops global services to create and improve the customer paying experience. Measuring customer behavior, developing insights and monitoring our success requires large amounts of data.

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer III to join our data science and engineering team. This is an opportunity to join a group with a broad charter and stakeholders across Amazon to directly influence the customer experience for Amazon products worldwide.

Our team of high caliber software developers, data scientists and engineers, and product managers use rigorous quantitative approaches to ensure that we target the right product and experience to the right customer at the right moment. In order to accomplish this we leverage the wealth of Amazon’s information to build a wide range of probabilistic models, set up experiments that ensure that we are thriving to reach global optimums and leverage Amazon’s technological infrastructure to display the right offerings in real time. We also build solutions to disseminate our findings and communicate the effects of product launches using data. We are looking for a highly motivated BI/Data Engineer to join us in creating and maintaining a world-class data and knowledge sharing platform.

We are looking for an outstanding business intelligence engineer that can help us transition to big data, extract meaning from billions of data points, and automate processes to feed the right data into our machine learning models, analyses, and business investigations. Furthermore, the person should be able to analyze data from dozens of different services, make sense of the results, and be able to communicate them to top management. You know and love working with business intelligence tools, excel at making sense of multidimensional datasets, and can partner with customers to answer key business questions. Responsibilities
· Design, implement, and support a platform providing ad-hoc and automated access to large datasets.
· Interface with business customers and software developers, gathering requirements and delivering complete reporting solutions.
· Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
· Participate in strategic & tactical planning discussions and solve difficult problems in building the next generation of our paying experience software.
· Use data mining, model building, and other analytical techniques to develop and maintain customer segmentation and predictive models to drive the business.
· Make recommendations for new metrics, techniques, and strategies to improve the customer experience while balancing cost of payments across Amazon businesses worldwide.
· Own business investigations and lead weekly and monthly business review meetings, which involves writing concise documents, developing and maintaining core KPI metrics, and delivering insightful investigations to help business stakeholders better understand the important takeaways out of a trove of data.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering or related technical field
· 6+ years of relevant employment experience
· 4+ years knowledge of SQL, Excel, and ETL work flows
· Experience in data mining using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
· Proven track record of Executive level reporting to that drive business decisions
· 1+ years experience working with Python, Scala, R, MatLab, or other data related scripting languages
· Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting
