Job Description

Amazon is seeking a detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and determined Business Intelligence Engineer with a strong desire to join Amazon's Leave and Accommodation Team. The team supports the leave, disability, accommodation, and support for life events for employees within Amazon. The role will support the continued growth and success of the program, particularly focusing on the data integrity, business intelligence, metrics, automation and enabling self-service to provide program guidance on design, improvement, and outcomes. She/he will help champion the customer (employee/manager/HR) experience by building out models to support analyses and reporting on key customer experience metrics.

We are looking for an outstanding Business Intelligence Engineer who is passionate about data-driven decision making, uncompromisingly detail oriented, self-starter, smart, efficient, and driven to help our business succeed. The candidate must love working with analytic tools and write excellent SQL queries. The candidate will be an individual contributor who is comfortable with ambiguity and able to successfully drive business intelligence projects to completion. The ability to understand business goals and use available data to create metrics measuring the success of the business against its goals is essential.

Responsibilities include:
- Work with business and engineering users throughout the HR services organization to determine the metrics, reports, and analyses needed to manage and act on the business
- Design, architect, implement, and support key datasets that provide structured and timely access to actionable business information with the needs of the end customer always in view
- Retrieve and analyze data using SQL, Excel, and other data management systems
- Evaluate and implement process and system improvement opportunities
- Develop queries for ad hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting
- Monitor existing metrics, analyze data, and partner with other internal teams (engineering, technical and operations) to identify and implement process and system improvements
- Partner with customers to answer key business questions

Seeked profile

Basic qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from an accredited institution, and 2+ years of relevant employment experience
· Advanced SQL writing and experience in data mining (SQL, ETL, data warehouse, etc.) and using databases in a business environment with complex datasets
· 2+ years of developing end-to-end Business Intelligence solutions: data modeling, ETL and reporting

Preferred Qualifications
· Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or related discipline
· Proven analytical and quantitative ability and a passion for enabling customers to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to effectively lead and influence interactions with both business and technical teams
· Experience with AWS technologies, Tableau
