Applied Science Manager

Job description

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are the technologies which drive and scale nearly every system at Amazon. Scientific breakthroughs in these areas have enabled us to launch Alexa, the Amazon Go store and machine translation for products of all our sellers, just to name some of the AI innovations we have launched at Amazon in the past few years.

Do you wish to be part of the team that turns these big AI ideas into reality? Do you embrace change and are you undeterred by failure? In the Core AI team, we are currently looking for a scientific leader in the field of AI who wants to help us invent an AI application or device that significantly improves the experience of our customers, whether they are sellers, developers, content creators or retail customers. The Core AI team is responsible for inventing and developing AI and ML algorithms and systems that not only extend state-of-the-art in science but improve customer experiences in novel ways. We are regularly incubating new products and product features.

You will be responsible for building a team of scientists and developers who are experienced in taking an idea to reality – from prototype to a customer-facing product, their career development, as well as the road map definition and prioritization for the organization. You will be expected to be heavily entrepreneurial in style and be experienced to develop a business plan as well as dive deep in the scientific and technical details of the product your team is building.

· Minimum of 7 years of experience in applied science, 3+ years of with people management responsibility.
