As the AMZL Academy Dean & Leader at your site, your main mission is to onboard and develop L4-L7 Operations leaders so they learn what good looks like and how to be successful in their station roles. You’ll be close to the action on the delivery station floor training new L4-L7 managers to become strong people leaders with the process skills needed to successfully run and support our growing AMZL network. This includes facilitating hands-on training, managing the weekly cadences to make sure all trainings, evaluations, and additional Academy activities are completed, and measuring success so that we can iterate and constantly improve design. Training includes leadership, cultural, and operations processes. And requires deep operations and leadership performance. As well as creativity to conduct Break It! scenarios simulating tough operations challenges and preparing our new leaders on how to remain calm and make decisions when dealing with unexpected challenges.
You will be comfortable to work independently, but will know when and how to seek help from others within the business. You will be confident teaching large groups of people and coaching smaller groups and individuals on specific areas. You will be organized and methodical in your approach, comfortable with analyzing data, diving deep to identifying trends and problem solving, and also be able to Think Big and continuously looking for ways to innovate in the learning space.
The AMZL Academy Dean & Leader is an operations role tied closely to AMZL Academy and focuses on Hire and Develop the Best. In this role, you will work closely with Operations Leadership, AMZL Academy team members, AMZL leadership, Field Operations, New Station Launch, Employee Relations, and Training & Development to make sure our Leaders are prepared from Day 1.
Responsibilities
· End-to-end ownership of AMZL Academy training programs at your site: from needs analysis stage to management and execution of training, and continuous improvement based on feedback.
· Deliver in-person training sessions both in classroom and on the floor.
· Ensure that all new AMZL leaders (external hires and internal transfers) quickly develop the knowledge and ability to become experts at what they do from both a people and process perspective.
· Identify gaps in existing learning content and work with AMZL Academy and other teams to innovate, create and test new content, and influence other new hire programs and processes. Play an integral role in gathering employee feedback on key network training initiatives.
· Take a data-driven approach to understanding performance issues while still gathering anecdotal feedback from participants. Take action to improve the quality and effectiveness of training and coaching at your site for AMZL Academy participants both during onboarding and in the following months.
· Build relationships and influence your site leadership team to address issues that inhibit effective learning.
· Identify any additional training materials and ‘train your trainers’ opportunities in new processes and flag changes to existing processes for the central team.
· Measure and assess the impact of leadership development initiatives so that we can improve the program design on an ongoing basis.
· Collaborate with other teams focused on leadership development, providing subject matter expertise in areas of content specialties.

· Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related technical field
· Demonstrated ability to successfully develop others into higher levels of leadership in an organization
· Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple delivery stations across the nation
· Ability to influence leaders at all levels to understand their role in employee development and help build their skills.
· Experience in a technical training role; and experience using Training Needs Analysis process; assessing performance gaps, analyzing learning needs, designing and developing customer-centric solutions, and evaluating the effectiveness of learning programs.

Desired profile
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· A bachelor's degree or equivalent
· 2+ years’ Amazon operations experience
· 4+ years of experience as a people manager
· Strong communications and facilitation skills
· People management skills with strong Connections scores
· The ability to work in fast-paced ambiguous environments, adapting quickly to changing circumstances, processes and priorities
· Prior experience on training on AMZL process standards, Lean Six Sigma or Quality tools/techniques (5s)
· Strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
· Candidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends, and holiday
· English and French fluency
