Job description
ACT is a charity set up in 2009 to promote sustainable development of the rainforest for the benefit of the public.
The mission is to design, build and deliver a ‘blue print’ Science Research and Corporate Environmental Village, which will sustain businesses for some 800 local inhabitants resulting in the protection of some 750,000 hectares of primary forest deep in the Amazon, 32 hours by boat north of the opera house city of Manaus.
We now have a big programme in front of us to get this project off the ground and require an intern for a minimum of one year (which can be extended for two or three years).
This is a great opportunity for the right person as they will be involved with a wide range of Brazilian and UK corporates as well as involved in negotiations with the Roraima local government at Secretary of State level.

Desired profile
- Ideally Brazilian and fluent in Portuguese and English
- Studying Earth Sciences at a PhD level
- Passionately interested in this area of activity
- Be available for a minimum of 3 days a week
- Able to deliver technical solutions, and successfully manage time to meet project deadlines
- Flexible to work in all kinds of environments, developed through field-work experience
- Proficient with numerical and IT skills as you will be dealing with international budgets
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
