Purpose

The Innovation & Research (INR) group is a global team that works across the organization. We are a high-performing team with the autonomy to achieve our mission, but accountable for how we do it. We help Amadeus and our partners exceed expectations when delivering new cutting edge prototypes and products, and to help drive innovation in areas that are strategically important for the company. We are hiring a Operations Developer (devOps) engineer to accelerate our development and delivery cycles, improve our development environment and secure our production services. The DevOps engineer will be in charge of maintining the developement and operations environment of all INR divisions, including teams based in Boston. We have a diverse range of enviornments for datasets including Hadoop, Impala DB, Spark and Hive, and for API partners, such as Apigee and Runscope.

Your work is results-based. As part of a global team, some of your responsibilities may require you to travel to technology events or to meet other collaborators and occasional night or weekend support of hackathons or technical events around the world.

Main Responsabilities

You will be responsible for the INR public-facing evironment and  software deliver pipeline. This could include:
• Administration of system software and networks, including OS, virualization and security. Technologies inlcude Debian, CentOS, ProxMox, network zoning, SSH and TLS certificates
• Maintenance and development of our API management platform with our partners at Apigee
• Continuous integration and deployment systems using Jenkins, Chef, test frameworks, packaging
• Developing and improving production montioring systems to ensure quick reactions to outages and monitor production data quality
• Designing or improving production logging, performance and data quality testing
• Outage management
• Automate the environment configuration and delivery pipeline

You will be responsible for INR data  management and our intranet environment, which could include
• Administration of technical components such as Cloudera Hadoop, Impala, Apache Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, Couchbase, MySql, Ruby on Rails, Play, Redhat Openshift, Docker
• Improving, designing, developing and maintaining data-warehouses (such as data model, partitions, materialised views, feeds, ETL, reporting tools, etc.).
• Help design and implement an internal self-service hosting platform for employees, based on Redhat Openshift v3

You will help use create an INR collaborative development environment which will include
• Management of source control (currently git/stash)
• Design and implementation of high-quality dev environment for collaborative work, perhaps using technologies such as Vagrant, to make it easy for developers to get started

You will help drive innovation in Dev Ops within Amadeus. You will
• Test new technologies, Develop best practices for instrumentation and experimentation and share with colleagues
• Suggest alternatives / improvements / new techniques in processes, flows, operational models and plans

Requirement

Education

Engineer or University degree in Computer Science or significant experience in this field

Relevant Work Experience

•  2+ years experience in a similar role
• Strong experience in web, API, big data, enterprise software engineering technology
• Amadeus OBE and Altea knowledge very appreciated
• Travel industry understanding will be a plus

Desired profile

Skills

• Comfort manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
• Strong experience in diverse programming paradigms (Scala, Ruby, Haskell, C++, Python...)
• Good understanding of database technologies: relational, distributed, SQL/NoSQL
• Experience working with large data sets and distributed computing tools (e.g Hadoop)
• Good knowledge of how the internet works and how to secure public-facing services on the internet
• Likes to test software and is comfortable with automated testing frameworks such as Runscope Radar or Apache JMeter.

•  English fluent, written and verbal 

•  Good communication skills
