Role Description:
The Software Development Project Manager/Scrum Master is responsible for end-to-end commercial software development for a targeted client base of airlines throughout the world. As a Project Manager working for the Navitaire Software Development organization you will work with a team of technical and business experts to deliver high value products to our clients using the a combination of delivery methodologies & tools.
Responsibilities:
•Work with Product Owner/Management stakeholders to prioritize backlog items
•Collaborate with Development Management to identify projected velocity
•Use teams’ estimated velocity against the initial backlog to forecast project duration and identify potential release milestones; Re-plan frequently as actual velocity is identified and backlog is re-prioritized.
•Track and manage project controls (risks, impediments and dependencies)
•Communicate project statuses with identified shareholders
•Generate, analyze and report on project metrics
•Influence and keep team focused on progress toward project goals & drive Continuous Improvement initiatives
•Schedule and facilitate status/stand-ups, planning, review, and retrospective events
•Coordinate information and efforts among various global sales, product management, development, QA, deployment, and production teams
•Effectively apply project management methodology and facilitate project standards
•Ensure that projects are managed to budget, time and quality and proactively identify and manage scope changes
•Work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously without impact to quality of work.
•Reports to a senior Project manager.
•Works with other PMs on cross-product projects.
•Contributes to the overall improvement of Project management practices in the organization through process improvement and other initiatives and active collaboration with other members of the project management team
Key deliverables expected:
•Meeting Management : Coordinate across teams; Facilitate Team Meetings and Retrospectives,
•Documentation : Create Project Management Plan including Schedule, Cost, and Scope, Project Status Reports, Risk / Issues/ Actions Repository, Project Closure; Create and/or update processes and procedures as needed
•Minimize exposure and risk on project and apply mitigation strategies effectively; remove roadblocks
•Identify dependencies and manage tasks effectively
•Communicate with stakeholders both internal and external to the project team
Qualifications:
•BA, BS or equivalent experience required
•5 years experience in software development project management.
•3 years experience with commercial software release development methodologies, including waterfall and agile development.
•Advanced capabilities using Microsoft Excel
•Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools
•Occasional non-standard business hour meeting facilitation and participation
•Strong interpersonal skills including collaborating and team building
•Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demand
•Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of stakeholder trust and confidence
•Proven ability to lead software development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met
•Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
•Exhibit critical thinking skills
•Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as proficient knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
•Experience overseeing multi-function project teams with at least 3-5 team members including Developers, Business Analysts, and QA Personnel
•Balanced business/technical background
•Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in the airline industry helpful, but not required.
•Experience with Visual Studio
•PMP certification preferred
•Scrum Master certification a plus
