Indirect Sourcing Buyer (VIE) – NAM Region
This is an exciting opportunity for a VIE to become part of the Alstom Indirect Sourcing team in the North American Region. Based in Rochester, New York, the role will be responsible to lead sourcing activities on a variety of services and materials for the business Region and the site.

Job Description
ALSTOM has an opening for a VIE as Indirect Sourcing Buyer to be located at its Rochester, NY location. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing indirect commodities related to ALSTOM operations in North America and to meet or exceed quality, cost and delivery objectives. Commodities include communication and marketing services, legal services, benefits and compensation, tax, insurance, IT, facility maintenance etc. This position will interface with multiple internal customers such as Human Resources, Marketing, Legal, and Finance to develop a vendor panel, execute Request for Quotes, lead negotiations, support vendor selection decision, and define and implement cost saving plans. The Buyer will build and proactively manage the contract database and carry out all sourcing activities to ensure timely order placement and service delivery. The Buyer will carry out the work per ALSTOM’s processes while being responsible for a world-class quality and delivery of services and goods at the lowest cost while managing risks to ALSTOM.
The Indirect Buyer will report to the Regional Indirect Sourcing Manager and will work closely with Site Buyers and the Corporate Sourcing Team located in France. The Buyer’s objectives are to meet and exceed KPIs such as cost savings targets, quality and delivery performance, and expected service levels. He/she will also get involved with quality, delivery or service issues elevated from stakeholders to ensure supplier compliance to the terms of the contracts.
Travel is estimated at 5% mainly in between Rochester, NY and Hornell, NY.
Qualifications
· Experience in sourcing indirect commodities related to engineering, construction or manufacturing operations
· Ability to develop and successfully implement cost savings plans and ideas
· Some experience in managing and resolving commercial and contractual issues with suppliers and subcontractors, including claims and change orders
· Data gathering and data analysis competences are needed for this role
· Experience in drafting, analyzing and negotiating subcontracts, purchase agreements, non-disclosure agreements to meet company’s targeted costs while minimizing risks
· ‘Customer service’ approach to the work and team work attitude in a multi-stakeholder environment
· Ability to navigate complex and multi-sites organizations and processes to accomplish the tasks at hand and systematically report results, in particular cost savings
· Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and take decisions independently within the authorized powers
· Vendor relationship management and vendor performance assessment
· Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
· Proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Educational Qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree required
· Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Economics, Business
