Alstom Transport employs approximately 2,000 people at over 20 different locations in the UK & Ireland. We are a major supplier & maintainer of tramways, main line trains, metro cars, electrical renovation & signalling systems.
Purpose of the job;
To work as a member of a team to service, maintain, repair and overhaul fleet locomotives,
coaching stock and equipment, including the latest generation in train technology to laid down
specifications.
As part of the team ensure that the fleet is serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient and cost
effective manner whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.
Main duties and responsibilities will include;
· Work as directed by and in co-operation with the Traincare Centre Production Manager or the
Train Care Point Coordinator, will comply with:
· All depot protection procedures
· Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working
practices, H & S.A.W, C.O.S.H.H.
· Comply with safe working practices including Electrical
· Safe Working procedures (ESW)
· Will adhere to and work within Quality Systems to the current standard.
· Work as part of a team, complete or assist in any of the team's activities to ensure work is
completed on time to specification.
· Will be responsible for:
Secondary fault finding (in-depth)
· With other team members will maintain good housekeeping systems of work areas.
· Will use IT Systems that are work related.
· Will carry out final work and process inspections as required.
· Will carry out Team Member B and C duties as required if assessed competent.
Cover Operations Co-Ordinator role (if level of competence required is met, after voluntary
training)
· Will be capable of accepting training in other skills and carry out duties, e.g. forklift, road
vehicle driving (if certified), attend call-outs and breakdowns if required.
· Will be capable of being trained in other activities/skills as required by the Traincare Centre
Production Manager or Train Care Point Coordinator.
· Candidate requirements;
· Educational Requirements
· Time served apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualifications
(ONC/HNC/City & Guilds) or recognised equivalent.
· Dual skilled (mechanical and electrical)
· Desired Knowledge / Experience. Wheel Lathe knowledge is preferable.
· Experience of working to procedures, work instructions and vehicle maintenance
instructions
· Knowledge, and practical experience of train maintenance
Experience of mentoring and instructing other team members
