ALSTOM has an opening for a Technical Publications Writer in its Rochester, NY, location. As a Technical Publications Writer, you will be creating product and systems manuals and training documentation.
Job Responsibilities :
· Research technical content related to O&M (Operation & Maintenance) manuals by collaborating with the Project Team, and interact with other departments to identify and collect specific data to be used in the creation of manuals, training, and technical documents. Utilize departmental processes to complete various types of assignments.
· Synthesize engineering documents and descriptions in concise, understandable explanations and develop accurate, detailed manuals to support hardware and software projects and products.
· Perform and validate technical/maintenance procedures. Edit and/or create technical illustrations.
· Manage assignments and documentation submittals according to defined quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) requirements.
· Work autonomously within tight deadlines to meet customer/project specific requirements while making independent decisions concerning work products.
· Interact with the customer as required.
· Follow ISO processes as required and maintain safety regulations.
· Willing to travel up to 20%.
Desired profile
Qualifications :
· Bachelor's Degree in related field.
· Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience developing technical documentation.
· Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, and Adobe Acrobat, FrameMaker, and Illustrator.
· Experience documenting hardware and software functionality.
· Ability to edit and create line drawings.
· Experience developing instructional material.
· Strong technical aptitude working with electromechanical and/or microprocessor based systems.
· Ability to work autonomously and deliver to tight deadlines.
· Ability to make independent decisions.
· Portfolio of work samples is required.
