Alstom Transport employs approximately 2,000 people at over 20 different locations in the UK & Ireland. We are a major supplier & maintainer of tramways, main line trains, metro cars, electrical renovation & signalling systems.

Purpose of the job;

To work as a member of a team to assist in the service, maintenance, repair and overhaul of locomotives, coaching stock and equipment to laid down specifications. To assist with the provision of stores activities and shunting and train preparation.

As part of a team, ensure that the fleet is serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.

Main duties and responsibilities will include;

· Assist with the provision of stores activities

· Comply with all depot protection procedures

· Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working

· practices, H&SAWA. and COSHH

· Will adhere to and work within Quality System to the current standard

· Work as part of a team, completing or assisting in any of the team's activities to ensure work is completed on time and to specification.

· Will be responsible for: Shunting, Coupling/uncoupling, Train preparation, Forklift truck driving, Labouring, Lubrication, Steam lancing, Crane driving, Fuelling, Systems top up, Block/pad change following assessment,

· Cover Operations Co-Ordinator role (if level of competence required is met after training)

· Will work with a team to ensure that the general housekeeping requirements are adhered to and standards of cleanliness maintained and improved

· Will be capable of accepting training in other skills and carry out duties, e.g. forklift, road vehicle driving (if certified), attend call-outs and breakdowns if required and trained as competent

Desired profile

Candidate requirements;

· Forklift truck licence preferable or willing to learn

· Numerate and literate

· Basic qualifications eg GCSE, VQs

· Written and communication skills

· Team worker

· Problem resolution

· Self motivated

· Work under own initiative
