Purpose
RAM/System Assurance Engineer
Purpose
The role is part of our Transport Information Solutions product line and aims at providing the RAM and system assurance activities required in delivering our Signalling Solution on ANZ rail market.
The RAM/Systems Assurance Engineer is in charge of the RAM (Reliability-Availability-Maintainability) activities to be carried out within the frame of Australian projects or tenders.
The RAM/System Assurance Engineer is also in charge of the definition and the deployment of the Safety Assurance activities as described in Alstom System Assurance Management Process, the Contract documents and the relevant railways standards (CENELEC EN 50126, 50128, 50129…) for assigned projects.
The System Assurance Engineer is responsible for all safety related matters to the assigned Projects in regard to the external parties (Customer, National Safety Authority, Independent Safety Assessor etc…) and for the overall coordination of the safety activities between the various Alstom sites involved in the project.
Depending on the size and complexity of the projects, the RAM/System Assurance Engineer will likely support multiple projects at the same time.
Support on tenders is also expected.

· Project completed on-time and at budget with no safety issues

· Completeness and acceptance of the Project Safety Case
· Completeness and acceptance of the contractual RAM requirements demonstration
· Quality of working relations with the project team
· Lowering the cost of the safety & RAM activities while maintaining the required safety level

Responsibilities
Responsibilities :
· Ensure strict application of ALSTOM System Assurance Management processes and tools
· Manage RAMS project requirements from Notice to Proceed to the Final Quality Approval.
· Decides of methods of safety & RAM assurance to be applied on the project, in accordance with the Alstom Transport Safety policy and the Project's relevant standards (CENELEC, IEC…)
· Establish the Safety & RAM Assurance Plans
· Manages the Project Hazard Log and the closure (resolution) of pending evidences/mitigations
· Carries out the Safety & RAM Analysis at project level
· Make Design recommendations based on RAM studies and verify adequacy of architecture choices to system RAM targets
· Write the System Reliability Growth Management Plan
· Establish the System Safety Case, integrating the Safety Cases of the participating Units, and ensure its completeness and acceptance
· Convince customers / national safety authority / partners / consultants / safety assessors of the Alstom approach and methodology for safety management & safety demonstration
· Complies with contracts requirements, deadlines and budget
· Organises the Project Safety Reviews
· Manage the project teams involved in safety
· Produces the relevant Project Work packages meeting QCD commitments
· Manage configuration management from Notice to Proceed to the Final Quality Approval.
· Report progress as per KPIs
Rail Safety Worker
Rail safety work activities for this role:
· Work involving the development, management or monitoring of safe working systems for railways
Health Requirement
· As part of being a Rail Safety Worker you will be required to pass the medical criteria determined for this role's health assessment.
Candidate Requirements
Educational Requirements
Engineering Degree with specific training/experience in the fields of RAM and safety, or other well suited degree/background.
Desired Knowledge / Experience
· Minimum 5 years of successful experience as a RAMS/Safety Engineer in Railways or within different industries such as Aerospace, Defence, Space or Military.
· Knowledge and application of safety CENELEC and IEC standards in Railway Signalling
· Experience in safety application principles such as ALARP, SFAIRP and SIL allocation.
· Ability to produce safety analyses and documentation (such as PHA, SHA, IHA, OSHA, FTA, Safety Case) of railway signaling system.
· Competent in FMEA, FTA techniques
· Competencies in RAM process, methodology and tools.
· Experience of international projects and working environments
· Knowledge of system engineering practices
· Ability to manage multiple project deadlines
· Rail signalling Knowledge from interlocking, ETCS or CBTC systems is desirable
· Experience with TfNSW is desirable
· Experience with TS 20001: 2013 is desirable
