APSYS and Continuous Improvement manager
Purpose of the Job
To provide TSSSA Facilities (Depots and repair centres) with optimum solutions to achieve service provision through Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost timescales and targets
To develop & facilitate the Kaizen Program which will be aligned to the TSSSA facilities improvement plan and the overall business strategy.
To be an Ambassador of Lean tools and techniques ensuring that existing process improvements are being sustained.

Within GIBELA - cf organisation chart.
The position will be based at Nigel repair Centre.
The job involves some mobility to suppliers, client depots, repair centers.
Flexibility and mobility required to achieve operational requirements.

Reporting to the Industrial Manager

Internal: Depot management, TSSSA & MSA Industrial teams, Supply Chain, Quality, project management
External : Suppliers of materials, tools and equipment, PRASA activity on Depot
Mission
Measurement
· APSYS score and progress done at each audit in the sites within his scope.
· Site main KPIs (QCD Commitments and EHS).
· Contribution to APSYS community (benchmark, audit, training).
· Respect of target task time in compliance with Industrial & Project planning
· Respect of HSE and Quality policies.
· Customer’s feedback, Kaizen event actions, planned audits, delivery aspects of trains, measurement of safety and performance

Responsibilities
· Support the operational activities to achieve service provision through Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost timescales and targets.
· Planning & Review: Maintain overall program tracking spreadsheet with sustained results
· Develop Continuous Improvement groups to identify and implement process improvements on Maintenance and Service provision processes.
· Provide KPI’s as requested, gather data and systematically resolve issues relating to performance of the fleet.
· Plan, Facilitate, Coordinate, Follow-up and Sustain Kaizen events.
· Supervise the implementation of daily improvement activities by Team Member(s) working within the Workshop
· Support Continuous Improvement with developing layouts, maximising lean principles and implementing best practices.
· Training:
· Identify any new training requirements required with storage/lineside constructional facilities and implement in accordance with Company trainers
· Carry out Lean awareness training as required
· Conduct Kaizen training as necessary
· LCC
· Identify areas for improvements within the organisation to improve business performance, reduce Life Cycle costs and improve reliability through Engineering.
· Identify process improvements to existing exam regimes and processes to improve or achieve fleet delivery targets and/or reduce the business cost base.
· 5S Leader;
· Promote 5S methodologies and become an internal 5S calibration expert
· Carry out 5S audits on a regular basis
· Update and maintain the 5S actions database
· Ensure standardisation is being adhered to and maintained across all SA sites
· Follow up to ensure gains are maintained
· Provide integral support to the maintenance team’s overall objectives.
· Support the management Team with constructional requirements

Educational Requirements
· Technical education
· IT literate ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· English fluency
Desired Knowledge / Experience
· Strong knowledge of train maintenance to Standard Operations and Vehicle Maintenance Instruction documents
· Strong knowledge of 5S/lean constructional requirements to meet daily objectives
· Process orientated knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Production Engineering processes.
· Knowledge and experience of implementation of improvement methods
· Industrial background with 2 to 5 years’ experience preferably in the railway industry or
· Technical background with 2 to5 years’ experience preferably in the railway industry, ideally in an international organization
· Working knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards and systems preferable
Technical Skills & Competencies
· Good verbal and written communications skills
· Ability to apply an organised, methodical and consistent approach
· Must be able to work with all levels of business from process owners to maintenance team members
· Strong team player but with the ability to work well in isolation
