The Alstom-led consortium Expolink, also composed of Acciona and Gulermak, has signed a contract with RTA (Roads & Transport Authority) to design and build the extension of Dubai’s Red metro line, also called Route 2020, and upgrade the system of the existing line. The project involves the construction of a 15-kilometre-long line – of which 11.8 kilometers of elevated metro line and 3.2 kilometers underground metro line - branching off the existing red line at the Nakheel Harbour & Tower station.

BIM Modeller                                                                                                                    

Purpose of the Job

The BIM modeller is in charge of producing the 3D models for the items directly designed at either at subsystem or system team level. The BIM modeller is an expert in designing and modifying 3D objects in the adequate software used/required by technical environment in which he works (Revit MEP, AutoCAD) and identify clashes using Navisworks. He/She applies the guidelines established by the design BIM Manager and works under the supervision of the BIM Coordinator.

 Missions

Performance Measurement/KPI’s

·  Compliance of the design models with BIM Standard.
·  Design BIM model progress and approval in accordance with budget and programme.
·  Resolve clashes in respective system BIM models.

Responsibilities

Technical missions:

·  Contribution to the design under the responsibility of the Design and BIM Manager
·  Produce drawings and BIM models consistent with instruction, guidelines and CAD/BIM standards,
·  Generate BIM models with dedicated tools (Revit MEP),
·  Draft/generate plans, diagrams and schedule in Revit and/or AutoCAD drawings.
·  Federate all models and perform clash detection using Naviworks and report clashes to subsystem / system BIM coordinators.
·  Production of deliverable under the responsibility of the BIM Manager
·  Use dedicated tools, procedures and templates for design development of BIM models,
·  Use dedicated tools and templates for production of Drawings such as Plans, cross sections and line diagrams,
·  Prepare models and drawings packages for submission,
·  Prepare reports and schedules for internal use (exports from Revit MEP).
·  Support the BIM Manager in the completion of Power Supply (POS) Component Library,
·  Modify Component/equipment BIM files for use in design drawings (clean-up, audit, reference and troubleshoot),
·  Assist the BIM Manager in the check of the deliverables as part of the subsystem/system technical validation
·  Provide design assistance to Designers and Engineers
·  Attend to training sessions set up at team level and project level

QCD and Reporting:

·  Support the Design BIM Modeller in keeping up to date the list of BIM models and their status,
·  Contribute the enforcement of good practices within the design team.
·  Support the Design BIM Modeller in reporting of design development to the BIM Manager and Design Manager.

Job Specifications

Knowledge & Experience :

·  Must have Knowledge of civil and electrical design, Power Supply design experience is appreciated,
·  Must have 3+ year's production experience in design, drafting or engineering (Project and/or construction experience appreciated),
·  Must have In-depth working knowledge of Revit MEP and AutoCAD. Basic knowledge in Bentley solutions is also requested. Familiarity with Navigator and NavisWorks is appreciated to ensure adequate communication with project teams (BIM Managers, coordinators and Design teams),
·  Thorough comprehension of parametric object-based models, design, engineering/construction models,
·  Possess the ability to work well as part of a team and independently,
·  Possess Excellent communications skills both written and verbal,
·  Possess Excellent organisational skills,
·  Fluent in English.
