Role Summary / Purpose

Alstom an opening for a Big Data /Machine Learning Software Developer at our Melbourne, FL site. This position will provide support to Product Design Engineer(s) to research and develop machine learning (ML) enabled data analytics solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

·  Architecture and develop software solutions to store, clean, validate, and process data, collected from different sources, on a large scale.
·  Architect data analytics framework for big data storage, analysis, and presentation.
·  Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
·  Research the state-of-the-art big data technologies applicable for the applications and business needs.
·  Design, code, validate, automate, and scale software in a collaborative environment.
·  Suggest and develop ad-hoc, unit, regression, and performance test cases.

Qualifications / Requirements

·  M.S. degree in computer science or related discipline.
·  Two or more (2+) years of experience in two (2) or more of the following: software architecture and development (java, Scala, R, Python), database technologies / distributed data storage (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, influxDB), virtual machine technology (VirtualBox, Docker), data streaming (Kafka), distributed processing (Spark), data wrangling / munging, data analytics workflows (Jupyter, Zeppelin) and data visualization (bokeh, Shiny, d3.js).

Desired Characteristics

·  Ph.D. degree strongly preferred.
·  Advanced coursework in computer science systems used with big data and machine learning processing.  Advanced coursework in mathematics and statistics. Additional course work in computer applications, software engineering and networking.
·  Demonstrated ability to think as a big data system architect .
·  Good understanding of machine learning (scikit-learn, tensorflow) processing.
·  Familiar with optimization algorithms to be run in heterogeneous and parallel processing systems.
·  Passion for developing efficient, testable, scalable, and well-documented code.
·  Ability to contribute to machine learning research and design and develop advanced prototypes. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
·  Ability to work successfully in small team environments, and communicate effectively.
·  Ability to pay close attention to detail, meet deadlines, balance multiple tasks, work under pressure, and work with frequent interruptions.
·  Experience developing data analytics applications, and applications for intermittently connected, low bandwidth, and low power environments; sensor integration and fusion.
·  Proven effective presentation skills.
