Junior Underwriter Liability

  • Copenhagen (København)

Job description

We are looking for a Junior Underwriter Liability, based in Copenhagen.

Your Team

Allianz Commercial specialises in providing comprehensive and customised insurance services and solutions for clients across the whole Liability industry and as industrial specialists have a long-standing tradition of supporting our clients in respect of their Liability risks placed in the Nordic market and elsewhere in the world on both a lead and follow basis.

Allianz Commercial’s highly experienced underwriters have a proven track record of finding flexible solutions to the challenges brokers and their clients face. We have expert global Liability insurance teams who are backed up by Allianz Commercial’s market leading capacity and our ability to underwrite risks in over 200 countries and territories. Our underwriters are also able to deploy significant capacity on a global scale.

The Impact You Will Have

You will take ownership of the underwriting process within your area of expertise, making independent decisions that ensure policies are delivered accurately and on time. Through close collaboration across functions and strong peer-level relationships with brokers, you will enhance our market responsiveness and strengthen Allianz's position — all while operating effectively within our global matrix environment.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts within your delegated authority, contributing to top and bottom line targets while supporting new business acquisition and client retention in line with the Underwriting Strategy
  • Proactively prepare underwriting information — including client/market research and claims data — and assist in pricing risks using global tools
  • Ensure underwriting compliance with the LoB governance framework, including Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, and Underwriting Guidelines, while supporting contract certainty and FAC Reinsurance binding ahead of inception
  • Establish and maintain complete policy files for each risk, ensuring accurate documentation is issued and supporting the administration of International Insurance Programs
  • Manage timely and accurate premium booking and credit control processes, working proactively with Operations and other functions to resolve outstanding accounts queries
  • Positively represent AGCS in the market, driving cross-functional involvement from areas such as MMC, ARC, Claims, and Operations in the underwriting process
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers, clients, and stakeholders at peer level
  • Build effective internal relationships across functional areas to support seamless collaboration within the global matrix.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Ability to assess risk exposures and natural hazards relevant to the Line of Business, with a foundational understanding of underwriting risk factors
  • Analytical pricing skills — able to evaluate current performance against benchmarks with an understanding of market dynamics, business needs, and customer requirements
  • Experience in contract drafting and interpretation, with the ability to design, develop, and implement consistent, robust policy wordings
  • Solid understanding of the policy administration lifecycle, including information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellation processes
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory framework relevant to the insurance industry
  • Strong communication and influencing skills — able to clearly express ideas in writing and presentations, and to persuade and motivate others without direct authority
  • Sharp analytical mindset — able to absorb information from multiple sources, examine data in detail, and draw well-founded conclusions
  • 1–3 years of experience working in a complex, global matrix organisation
  • A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role and the broader organization is expected.
  • Fluent Danish (able to negotiate) and working knowledge of English
