We are looking for an Inland Marine Claims Specialist. This role can be based in our Chicago, IL New York City or O’Fallon, MO office.
The Impact You Will Have
We are currently looking for a Claims Specialist who will be responsible for handling medium to complex Marine Transportation and Logistics claims with end-to-end responsibility, across multiple jurisdictions, including establishing case strategy, appointment and management of claims investigators / experts/coverage counsel and setting of case reserves.
In addition, the Inland Marine Claims Specialist will drive third party service providers to achieve economical results and to provide a high-quality service to all internal and external customers and assist with training and development of team members, while acting as a technical referral point for other claims handlers.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Claims Processing and Administration.
·
Inputting and maintaining accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AzC Claims administration systems.
·
Manage timely production of management information reports (e.g., monthly major claims movements) and proactively identify loss trends.
·
Investigate standard claims, including coverage determination and evaluation of loss exposures.
·
Determine appropriate reserving levels.
·
Litigation: Understanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g., mediation).
·
Positively represent AzC externally to the market. Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process (e.g., underwriting, MMC, ARC, operations).
·
Develop and maintain strong relationship with key brokers and clients and other relative stakeholders (e.g., third party adjusters).
·
Effectively report and present loss and claims information internally and externally.
Qualifications:
·
College degree preferred.
·
5-7 years’ experience of proven track record in handling marine claims involving noncomplex coverage and damage issues.
·
5-7 years’ experience in detailed understanding of claims handling process.
·
3-5 years’ experience in demonstrating established relationships with brokers at peer level group and well established in local market.
·
3-5 years’ experience understanding of legal and regulatory framework.
·
3-5 years’ experience working in complex, global matrix organization.
·
Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business process and decision-making is highly beneficial.
·
Products and Coverages: understanding in relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages.
·
Claims Handling: knowledge of claims handling process from notification to settlement and recovery.
·
Reserving, reinsurance and coinsurance: knowledge of reserving principles and practices; robust understanding of coinsurance and reinsurance and application.
·
Litigation: Understanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g., mediation).
The annualized base pay range for this role is $109,105 – $196,073. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
