We are looking for a Chief Actuary ART, based in Wallisellen.

We work collaboratively to ensure high‑quality reserving, capital modelling, and risk insights. The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Managing Director Finance ART and working in a matrix with the Chief Reserving Actuary Allianz Commercial, you will play a key role in shaping ART’s actuarial work. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the business to evolve reserving approaches, advance capital‑modelling practices, and maintain high‑quality technical provisions. By bringing actuarial insight into cross‑functional discussions, you will help build shared understanding and support well‑coordinated outcomes. Your expertise will guide ART AG within the Swiss Solvency Test framework while also contributing to Solvency II group reporting and the development of global actuarial standards for the ART Line of Business.

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Drive the actuarial strategy and provide actuarial leadership for ART AG and the global ART LoB, ensuring strong reserving, capital‑modelling and reinsurance oversight in line with regulatory and Group expectations.
  • Lead reserving and technical provisions, ensuring robust best‑estimate methodology, transparent assumptions and regular reserve reviews.
  • Oversee risk‑capital modelling, ensuring models meet SST requirements and support Solvency II group aggregation in close partnership with Risk Management.
  • Provide actuarial oversight of the reinsurance program, including evaluations of capital and P&L impacts.
  • Act as the actuarial interface to regulators and auditors, ensuring clear communication and high‑quality regulatory submissions for ART AG, ART Bermuda and ART LoB.
  • Contribute actuarial insight to strategic planning, including capital considerations, portfolio steering and long‑term development of the ART business.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Qualified actuary; university degree in actuarial science, mathematics, physics, or finance.
  • 10+ years senior actuarial or quantitative risk management experience.
  • Deep knowledge of non-life (re)insurance business and non-traditional ART LoB.
  • In‑depth understanding of ART actuarial methodologies, including reserving approaches, underwriting‑risk modelling, and regulatory frameworks such as SST and Solvency II.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to make sense of complex issues, navigate ambiguity and take clear, well‑judged action.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to different audiences and ensure messages are understood.
  • Strong people‑leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams in a dynamic environment and support them through change.
  • The ability to ensure ethical AI practices and stay updated with emerging AI technologies will be key to maintaining a competitive advantage.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop international and/or virtual teams within a complex global matrix environment.
  • Fluent English; German proficiency is an advantage.
