What you do:
As an Asset and Liability Management (ALM) Associate, you will enhance our company's financial performance by analyzing our assets and liabilities and developing recommendations and strategies aligned with the company’s risk tolerance to support long-term growth. You'll prepare actionable analyses covering interest rate, credit, liquidity, and non-financial risks, optimizing our asset and liability position to ensure financial stability and profitability. You'll also support and drive ALM model development and assist the actuarial team with related topics for PBR, CFT, and model assumptions. This position reports to the AIM VP – ALM.
Asset and Liability Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive and actionable ALM analysis on asset and liability positions, evaluating risks like interest rates, credit, liquidity, and market fluctuations
- Monitor and analyze financial metrics such as duration gap and cashflow mismatch.
- Identify and report trends, risks, and opportunities to senior management for informed decision-making.
Strategic Asset Allocation:
- Assist in developing and maintaining the Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) framework, ensuring alignment with the company’s risk and return objectives.
- Analyze asset classes with specialists to understand their risk-return characteristics.
- Assess the impact of different investment strategies on the liabilities and surplus position as well as capital generation.
Financial Modeling and Forecasting:
- Use and develop our financial models to project and stress test scenarios on the company’s assets and liabilities.
- Provide forecasts and insights for strategic planning and risk management.
- Extend and test the ALM model for new scenario analysis, support the model development process to integrate new changes into the production models.
- Support actuarial ALM-related modeling for cash flow testing and PBR.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accounting standards.
What you bring:
- 4+ years of experience required. Minimum 3+ years of experience within an insurance company or related financial services company in areas that are related to ALM, investment management, or pricing.
- Strong actuarial or investment modelling experience from first principles including use of actuarial modeling software.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication for an executive audience.
- Four-year degree required: Quantitative field including mathematics, engineering, economics, actuarial science or related
- Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI).
- You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require immigration sponsorship for visa status now or in the future (e.g. H1-B, L-1, TN, etc). If you are currently on CPT/OPT, you are ineligible due to the need for future immigration sponsorship.
