AkzoNobel Protective Coatings –has an outstanding opportunity for a Technical Support Representative. The role of the technical support is to utilize a broad and deep technical knowledge on specifying internal and external coatings as well as assist in installation of these systems. This position will be part of a team that provides technical support to the sales groups in USA, Canada Mexico and South America. Also, assisting RD & I and Market Managers in the development of new business opportunities in the relevant market areas.

Strongsville, OH or Houston, TX work location will be considered for the right candidate.

Specific Tasks:

· Give advice on coating performance, application and specifications
· Delivers internal and external customer training on High Performance Coatings/Linings
· Conducts demonstrations of products and transfers the knowledge on AkzoNobel processes as well as on technical problem solving to the customers
· Actively participates, together and as peer to allocated Sales Representative, in key phases of the sales process to prospects
· Proactively prevents and solves problems of a technical nature occurring at existing customers
· Conducts and/or assists in the testing process as well as in the implementation of new products and technologies
· Synchronizes own activities with all departments using CRM, up-dates the key customers' databases with valid, accurate and complete information (visits, products, equipment etc)
· Handle complex technical issues and product warranties and educate customers on solutions
· Assists sales departments in the implementation of sales strategies and within key phases of the sales process, giving technical expert knowledge to their prospects
· Promotes the positive company image and acts as a liaison and develops long-term relations with customers
· Participate in industry committees and activities of relevant Market Focus Work Groups
· The travel requirement is about 10%

Desired profile

· Bachelor's Degree in Technology (engineering or chemical)
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in the High Performance Coatings/Linings industry
· Extensive knowledge in recommending and installation of external system (zinc, epoxy, urethane) and internal linings (Epoxy, Urethanes, Zinc, Enamels, Vinyl Esters, Polyurea's).
· Excellent communications skills over the phone and in person for presentations
· Computer Literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
· English and some Spanish a plus
· NACE Coating Inspectors certification Level 2 a plus
· Contractor/Applicator experience a plus
