The Strategic Research Group Measurement and Analytical Science (SRG-MAS) focuses on the use of physical and chemical techniques and methods to characterize and understand the composition, structure, and performance of materials, chemical products, and processes. Your organization
We are looking for an engaged Researcher to strengthen our multi-disciplinary Process Analytical Technology (PAT) team. You will focus on the development of dedicated in-/on-/at-line analytical methods for implementation in the plant and in other research or plant laboratories within the diverse businesses of AkzoNobel globally. You work together with researchers, technologists, and other colleagues within the wider AkzoNobel community.
Your responsibilities
Reporting to the analytical team leader PAT in SRG-MAS, your responsibilities will include:
• Initiating, executing, and participating in, among others, PAT projects that involve chemometrics, which includes the development and implementation of analytical methodologies in the plant.
• Chemometrics consultancy for our customers regarding methods, approaches, and software for advanced data analysis.
• Project Leader and/or project team member within innovation-driven programs.
• Gatekeeping in the field of chemometrics, including maintaining and expanding an expertise network within and outside AkzoNobel.
• Training, teaching, and stimulating colleagues in the use of chemometrics.
• Pro-active role in identifying and acquiring projects by engaging with the business.
Desired profile
Your profile
• PhD or equivalent in the field of multivariate data analysis.
• Strong affinity with and knowledge about analytical chemistry techniques.
• Demonstrated expert in the development and improvement of multivariate calibration methods applied to spectroscopic data, including data preprocessing.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills, enabling to be effective in discussing your work with chemists & technologists and understanding their needs.
• Ability to set-up, participate in, and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Experienced and qualified in project management is an advantage.
• Ability to act as expertise coordinator keeping in touch with universities, research institutes and company R&D groups and advance our Open Innovation initiatives.
• Having a drive to learn and develop yourself.

• Hands-on mentality and a drive to make things happen.
• Being able to work in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary global setting.
• Fluency in English and at least one major European language.
• High safety awareness.
