Job description

Bring your supply chain production planning expertise to a highly liquid process

Our Decorative Paints business area (BA) adds color to people's lives with a full range of interior and exterior decoration and protection products for the trade and consumer markets. As authorities on color we aim to provide all our customers – from professional decorators to DIY enthusiasts – with a great color experience and a fantastic finish. Our range includes paints, lacquers and varnishes, as well as products for surface preparation (pre-deco products).

For some of the manufacturing sites in the EMEA region, the production planning is done in Sassenheim, the Netherlands. To support this process we currently seek a proactive and accomplished

Production Planner

The core purpose of this role is to create an optimized production plan to minimize supply chain costs within operational constraints. This requires a very high level of understanding of the tradeoffs between service, stock and manufacturing costs, while managing all main planning parameters (like Safety Stock, Economic Order Quantity, etc.) as well as site constraints.

As such, this role is ideal for candidates with experience of the same function in a similar environment or company dedicated to the production of paint/coatings or fluid FMCG. It is also an ideal starter role for candidates who have a relevant (technical) education in, and understanding of, Supply Chain management.

You will be working for an organization that is committed to your personal and professional growth.

The position is based at Sassenheim, the Netherlands but you will travel for approximately 20-30%

of your time.

You own the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for one of the European factories and it's your responsibility to meet the agreed service levels. Your primary contact at site level is the scheduler to finalize the production plans and to discuss the constraints and exceptions. This involves ensuring continuous improvement (CI) on leading metrics like scheduling adherence and batch cycle times together with the site schedulers.

Plans typically have a 12-week horizon, within which you are responsible for finite production and capacity planning based on factory calendars and MOQs. You also ensure adherence to S&OP rules, while balancing service level and inventory against targets, and understanding the cost impacts on manufacturing.

In addition you review schedule adherence and improvement and promote effective relationships with the site. You also have input with regard to inventory strategy on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.

Further, you work with the Material Planner, Production Planning Manager, Life Cycle Coordinator and the Country Supply Lead to handle and resolve demand exceptions.

This is a highly responsible and demanding role that requires a deep understanding of manufacturing process and production strategies, including inventory management and differentiated stock strategies and control.

Desired profile

The position is open to candidates who have professional experience including multi-country and cross-cultural management responsibilities and roles within Supply Chain generally and Planning specifically. A professional path within AkzoNobel Coatings is highly desirable.

Alternatively, it also open to candidates who have recently graduated and hold a relevant master degree such as Business, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering, with a specialization in Supply Chain.

Knowledge of SAP, in particular APO/PP and Scheduling System, is important. Some financial background is an advantage.

Beyond these technical attributes, you possess excellent communication skills and the ability to understand and foster the interfaces between Demand, Supply, Production & Deployment planning.

Fluent written and spoken English is essential as well as knowledge of the French language.
